A community event open to all, incredABLE Day features accessible experiences and activities, live entertainment, resources, and more. The event attracts thousands of attendees and requires 200 volunteers to help in raising critical funds and building awareness about HMEA's services. Since its inception, incredABLE Day has raised more than $2 million, which is returned to HMEA's programs, serving 110 communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and supporting more than 4,000 children, adults, and families across their lifetimes. Sponsored by dozens of local and national partners, the day aims to strengthen the agency's mission and celebrate the ABLE in all of us. Stay tuned to the events page of HMEA's website for information on the next incredABLE Day, coming Spring 2023. HMEA's Autism Resource Central's Autism Superhero 5K: Held annually in April, HMEA's Autism Resource Central hosts its 5K run and walk to promote autism acceptance, giving everyone the opportunity to be a superhero for autism services. A community of thousands of attendees and more than 100 volunteers comes together for a day of all-ages family fun and entertainment, including a certified 5K race. Proceeds from the event support the continued provision of high-quality services and supports for children and adults with autism and their families in Central Massachusetts. Stay tuned to the events page at autismresourcecentral.org for information on next year's Autism Superhero 5K, returning Spring 2023 to Polar Park in Worcester. We invite virtual activism, networking, and information-sharing via our Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages; search for HMEA Inc. Our Board of Directors, Family Advisory Council, Human Rights, Development, and incredABLE Committees comprise critical volunteer roles; anyone interested in serving in these capacities is invited to contact the agency. Contact us for special group and individual volunteer opportunities, such as maintenance of our Day Services and Group Home Residential sites, recreational opportunities, and therapeutic services. Suggestions of volunteer roles, based on relevant skills, talents, or resources, are always welcomed. Volunteers are sought for HMEA's incredABLE Day and HMEA's Autism Resource Central's Autism Superhero 5K events. FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES POST-PANDEMIC: As we move from the crisis phase of the pandemic, with some reversion to normalcy, the human services sector has seen an exponential increase in workforce vacancies, as wage inflation soars in other service sectors. The phases of redesigning, reopening, and reengaging people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who were previously supported, and to begin accepting new program entrants in need of services, will require the continued commitment by government to fund human services frontline workers with a competitive entry- level wage at a minimum of $20.00/hour. Staff who are committed to this work need to earn a living wage. Flexibility and reimbursement for alternative methods of service delivery remain critical if we are to ensure access to services for those in need. Annual Appeal: Share compelling cases with the HMEA community on the impact of their support for the organization's annual campaign. In previous years, we've shared stories of volunteers providing their talents, compassion, and skills to enrich the lives of our supported individuals, and of staff and supported individuals working together for more than 30 years. We ask our audience to consider making a life-changing donation in the fall, as we approach the annual season of giving. Giving Tuesday: An annual fund drive benefitting a different cause every year, as identified by our programs. Past campaigns have funded the purchase of art supplies for Adult Services programs and multimedia learning supplies for Children's Services. Stay tuned to HMEA's social media pages in late November to participate. In-Kind Donations are gratefully accepted throughout the year, and may include therapeutic equipment, adaptive exercise, assistive technology, communication devices, home furnishings, safety and cleaning materials, and more. Donations of raffle prizes and advertising for events are very appreciated. Other: Donations in any amount can be made by texting the code "Give2HMEA" to 44321. Donations are gratefully accepted year- round by visiting hmea.org/donate. Donors may designate HMEA as their AmazonSmile and RoundUp beneficiary. HMEA is interested in exploring new partnerships with community organizations that support HMEA's mission. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
