However, NECC appreciates community volunteers at fundraising events, and student activities (such as Field Day and Special Olympics). These opportunities are on a set date and usually last between two to four hours. They may include helping guests register at a golf event or the gala, or painting faces at the annual Field Day. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES POST-PANDEMIC: Safety and security have always been paramount at NECC; therefore, the organization was well positioned to respond to the pandemic wholistically and quickly. NECC crisis response plan is updated annually and provided the structure to the Emergency Response Team. NECC converted it's cafeteria kitchen into a catering operation, providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner deliveries to the 17 group homes seven days per week. NECC's Health Services department was a full-service clinic, and NECC's maintenance department procured PPE and sanitization equipment early on. NECC learned that being prepared and dedicated to its students and staff, enabled the organization to remain open throughout the pandemic. "The work that NECC performs is incredibly significant and for students served, it is absolutely life changing. They provide services to children with autism of all ages, at all levels, through schools and programs across the globe. They're training the next generation of teachers and behavior analysts. They're conducting groundbreaking autism research and disseminating knowledge using the latest technology. The organization is filled with professionals who are both competent and compassionate."– John Y. Kim, NECC Board Chair NECC raises about $2 million annually through appeals, fundraising events, and grants that support (through the Annual Fund) student activities. What these donations fund (through the Annual Fund) includes student activities (like bowling, music enrichment, museum visits, park passes, outings in the community), equipment for the pool, gym, and playground, classroom technology and communication devices, as well as improvements at the student residences. Donated services are welcome, as are clothing, meals, or gift cards. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES NECC offers several fundraising events throughout the year, each with opportunities for community participation. Donations (both monetary and auction items), sponsorships, and participation for these upcoming events are welcome: 1. Carlos Placido – Dunkin' Golf Classic for Autism (September 12, 2022) 2. Children of Promise Gala (November 11, 2022) 3. The Mike Walk Across America (mid-September through December 2022): A parent of an NECC student is walking cross country from Southern California to Florida over five months to raise awareness and support for NECC. 4. NECC Art Show (April 2023) 5. NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism (May 2023) NECC is always looking for unique items donated to our auction, specifically experiences (a week at a vacation home, airline tickets or miles, a meet-and-greet with a celebrity, private golf course access, etc.), which are used at these events throughout the year.
