Artizan Biosciences leases space at Winchester Works Artizan Biosciences has inked a lease to occupy 10,000 square feet of Class A laboratory and office space at Win- chester Works in New Haven. e lease's term is for seven years, with a provision for expansion at five years. e New Haven-based biotechnology company is focused on therapeutics that treat chronic inflammatory disease. Artizan's President and CEO, Dr. Bridget Martell, said that moving to Winchester Works will allow the company to accelerate its research as it continues to grow its staff and expand its clinical efforts. PHOTO | CARL VERNLUND Windward apartments marks first phase of Bridgeport site revamp Dignitaries recently gathered to cut the ceremonial ribbon and cele- brate the opening of e Windward Apartments, a complex featuring 54 mixed-income units in four buildings in Bridgeport. e project is the first phase of three planned for the site of the former Marina Village public housing complex. e development includes a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, available in townhouse and flat- style apartments. At 20 Johnson St., Bridgeport, it features amenities such as a fitness center, resident lounge and entertainment area, and outdoor play, picnic and barbecue areas. On the ground floor, there is a 7,200-square-foot commercial space, which has been leased to Southwest Community Health Center. e first phase of the complex is already open and fully occupied. Windward Development Associates LLC, comprised of JHM Group of Companies, e Richman Group and Park City Communities, is behind the $25 million project. Planners approve new gateway to New Haven's Westville neighborhood Developers recently got the green light to transform a blighted prop- erty at the entrance to New Haven's Westville neighborhood. e City Plan Commission approved a new 245-unit apartment complex for 781 Whalley Ave. A long-vacant office building at the corner of Whalley and Fitch is set to come down in favor of the new com- plex, proposed by developer 50 Fitch LLC, with principals Mendel M. Paris and Sim Levenhartz. e complex is planned as a mix of townhomes and apartments ranging from three-bedrooms to studios.
