Haranas president & CEO 1889 In Worcester County, Cornerstone Bank provided $99-million in Paycheck Protection Program loans as part of the U.S. Small Business Administration's effort to stabilize the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. At $99 million, Cornerstone wrote the second-most PPP loans for businesses in the county, following UniBank's $107 million. In October, UniBank launched a charitable foundation, seeding it with $2 million, to supplement the approximately $750,000 in planned annual community giving. Mark O'Connell, Avidia's president and CEO, plans to retire in May after 35 years with the bank. Webster Five in September sold its former office on A Street in Auburn for $2 million, fol- lowing its moving corpo- rate offices to Millbury Street in Auburn and con- solidating 100 staff members from its offices in Auburn, Webster, and Worcester. In May, Bank of America raised the minimum wage for its employees to $22 per hour, including at its 27 branches in Central Massachusetts.
