The project received a 14-year property tax break from the Town of Hopkinton, bringing $4.5 million in value. BMP Medical moved from Gardner to its 80,000-square-foot facility in Sterling in 2019. In July, the Mevion's S250i Proton Therapy System was used by a cancer patient for the first time at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Missouri, one of 40 such treating centers in the U.S. The compact size of the system enables hospitals to better integrate the technology into existing radiation oncology departments. In August, YMC expanded its national facilities with a 3,500-square-foot building next to its headquarters in Devens, along with a separate smaller expansion in California. The company uses the new space for separation studies and other research. In January, StageBio appointed Lori Ball as its new CEO, succeeding Tom Galati, former CEO and founder. Before joining StageBio, Ball was chief operating officer at New York life sciences firm BioIVT.
