CT Black Expo returns to New Haven after 9 years A showcase of Black-owned busi- nesses is set to return to New Haven this fall aer a nine-year hiatus. e Connecticut Black Expo, an event that showcases Black businesses along with performances by artists and musicians, is scheduled to take place Oct. 29-30 at the Floyd Little Athletic Center at 480 Sherman Parkway. is year's theme will be "Action Driving Black Excellence," according to a news release. e first Black Expo in New Haven was launched in 1972 and took place at the New Haven Armory; the most recent was in 2013 at the Floyd Little Athletic Center. Subway to move corporate HQ to Scinto tower in Shelton Subway will move its corporate headquarters from Milford to Shelton, the company announced in June. e sandwich chain said it has leased 90,000 square feet at 1 Corporate Drive, the flagship office tower at the heart of the Enterprise Corporate Park in Shelton built by R.D. Scinto Inc. e lease term is 15 years, according to a Subway statement. e building at 1 Corporate Drive, located off Route 8 at exit 12, also houses the offices of R.D. Scinto and offers amenities like a fitness facility, spa, five cafés, il Palio restaurant and a 200-person auditorium. All functions of Subway's existing Milford-based team will transition to the new space by spring 2023, the company said. e new location is about 10 miles away from the company's current headquarters at 325 Sub Way in Milford. Subway moved its offices to Milford shortly aer it was founded in Bridgeport in 1965. A r o u n d t h e R e g i o n Julianne Hough latest star to pitch BIC products Shelton-based manufacturer BIC has enlisted yet another star to promote its products. is time, Emmy-award winning ac- tress, dancer, singer and entrepreneur Julianne Hough, will pitch its new BIC Soleil Escape razor. A new campaign dubbed "Tickle Your Senses" features Hough, who de- scribes herself as a "big sensory person" with a self-care routine that includes the BIC Soleil Escape razor. e new razor features a lavender and eucalyptus-scented handle, and comes in three or four flexible blade options that individually adjust to the contours of the skin, according to the company. Liberty Bank introduces new, faster ATMs across state Middletown-based Liberty Bank said it has replaced all of its ATMs with new faster, more reliable machines. A withdrawal transaction is now quicker by 20 or 30 seconds, the bank said. Customers can also choose their denominations when withdrawing cash, like whether they want 50, 20 or 10 dollar bills. e new Liberty ATMs also have a "card before cash" feature to ensure customers take their card out of the machines before cash is dispensed. Liberty Bank partnered with Cardtronics, a managed service provider, for the 63 upgraded ATMs. It declined to disclose how much was invested in the new machines. Radiology patient info exposed in Yale New Haven Hospital data breach Files containing the personal data of Yale New Haven Hospital radiology patients were mistakenly posted on a public website, the hospital announced in June. e number of patients affected by the data breach "were not made avail- able," according to Yale New Haven Hospital spokesman Mark D'Antonio. e data exposed included each patient's telephone number, email address, age range, preferred language, medical record number, procedure type and date and location of service. Neither Social Security numbers nor financial information were included in the data. e files, created for research pur- poses, were le online for five months and "may have been accessed by a small number of people," according to a statement. e breach was discovered on April 18. Edgewell launches Gen Z-focused skincare line Shelton-based Edgewell Personal Care has debuted a line of "Gen-Z- focused, gender inclusive, sustainable skincare" products called Fieldtrip, the company announced. e unisex line consists of nine prod- ucts including a body wash, moisturiz- er, serum and facial mist, all made with sustainably-sourced ingredients. e products' packaging will also highlight the historical significance of each ingre- dient, the company said. Webster Bank plans $6.5B community investment Webster Bank's parent company, Webster Financial Corp., announced in June it's investing $6.5 billion in the communities it serves and is establishing an office of corporate responsibility to oversee community engagement. e company says the recent merger between Sterling Bancorp and Webster Bank gives it greater scale and resources for philanthropic efforts. e newly formed office will be led by Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer Marissa Weidner. e program will include $1.3 billion in affordable housing for low- and moderate-income communities; $2.1 billion in community development lending and investments over three years; and $2.1 billion in small business lending over three years with focus on minority- and women-owned businesses.
