On May 31, Edward Augustus ended his eight-year run as Worcester's city manager, and former assistant city manager Eric Batista began his term as acting city manager. Worcester is somewhat unique among larger cities where the city manager is the top day-to-day executive in the city and not an elected position. Proposals to change Worcester's hybrid form of Plan E government to a strong elected mayor system has cropped up in the past and been defeated at the ballot box, as recently as 2005. When polled online, just over half WBJ readers said the city should consider switching to a strong mayor. MetroWest Medical Center appoints new chief nursing officer MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham has appointed a new chief nursing officer, Daniel Wright, who officially began his new role on May 31. Wright comes to MetroWest with experience as a CNO at Arnot Health in New York and HCA Healthcare's Oak Hill Hospital in Florida, according to the announcement from MetroWest Medical Center. In total, he brings 18 years of experience to the medical center. Wright appears to be replacing Susan Mangini, although the hospital's announcement didn't specify. MetroWest spokesperson Matthew Clyburn said Mangini le to pursue other opportunities, along with former CEO Ava Collins. e CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital, Carolyn Jackson, is filling in as interim MetroWest Medical Center CEO. In his new role, Wright will be responsible for leading the nursing team and developing nursing programs. He will work with the medical staff to ensure patients receive the best possible care and nursing satisfaction. "I'm very excited to serve our caregivers and this community," Wright said in the press release. "I have already had the chance to meet many of our nurses, and it is clear that we share a commitment to the health and healing of the people we serve." MetroWest Medical Center, along with Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, is a part of Texas-based Tenet Healthcare, one of the largest healthcare companies in the United States. Tenet Healthcare operates 60 hospitals and 550 outpatient centers, according to the company's website.
