Susan Collins announced that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries awarded Maine $7.2 million to provide disaster assistance for the state's Atlantic herring fishery. Gov. Janet Mills announced that the ConnectMaine board of directors voted to approve the second round of broadband infrastructure projects funded by the High Speed Internet Infrastructure Bond approved in July 2020. This second round of fund- ing will connect approximately 6,000 Maine homes and businesses to high- speed internet. Maine Water will have new president Maine Water Co. said its president Richard Knowlton, who has been with the company 29 years, will retire on June 17 and be succeeded by vice president Mark Vannoy. Knowlton joined what is now Maine Water as vice president of opera- tions in 1993 and became president in 2017. Maine Water is wholly owned by SJW Group's (NYSE: SJW ) subsidiary, Connecticut Water Service Inc. It provides water service to a population of more than 80,000 in 21 communities across Maine. Knowlton was a driving force behind the new, $60 million Saco River Drinking Water Resource Center, which is under construction and will replace the 1884 water treatment plant currently serving customers in the Saco-Biddeford area. Knowlton's successor, Vannoy, joined Maine Water in 2019. Prior to that, he served on the Maine Public Utility Commission and was chair for four years beginning in 2014.
