The city of Portland said Standard & Poor's Global Ratings raised its credit rating on all of Portland's general obli- gation debt up to 'AAA' from 'AA+'. Goodwill Northern New England in Gorham announced that it is invest- ing $1.5 million in new methods of storing and transporting clothing and household donations to reduce waste. The organization will start the process of eliminating big cardboard boxes and wooden pallets to move items and large metal racks to store the boxes and will now will use sus- tainable materials that are safer for employees, waste less material and save money. Children's museum takes a step forward e Children's Discovery Museum of Central Maine has launched a $350,000 capital campaign to com- plete the $1.6 million construction of its new home in Waterville. e museum, which has been serving the area for nearly 30 years, has already come up with more than $1.2 mil- lion from a variety of private, non- profit and government funders. e build-out includes the creation of new exhibits and updates to a former church building the museum pur- chased in November 2020 at 7 Eustis Parkway. e museum aims to open by the end of this year, but no firm date has been set, Keys said. Once open, the museum's annual budget is estimated to be $300,000. e museum's new facility will be roughly three times the size of the previous one in Augusta.
