Hoey would also like to attract businesses to the town's few remaining developable parcels, easing the tax burden on homeowners. Another priority is improved broadband service to better serve the increasing number of town residents who work from home, he said. Unlike so many towns, Guilford saw few retail businesses and restaurants fail during the pandemic, Cote said. She attributed it to the community's deep commitment to support local businesses and buy locally. "It's just an attitude that Guilfordians have," she said.
