After growing Fallon's PACE to six locations, including three in Worcester County, Fallon's PACE is now the 10th largest in the country. Bostek is also a member of the National PACE Association Board of Directors. UMass Memorial Health Care, Inc. welcomed four new doctors to its team: Dr. SULIMAN EL-AMIN practices inpatient psychiatry and child/ adolescent psychiatry; Dr. PETER GRZESIK is an anesthesiologist; Dr. ANUP KARLATH is a hospitalist; and Dr. XIAOFEI WANG is a pathologist. Dr. ANDREY SAYKO was hired as a family medicine physician by Harrington Physician Services' Family Medicine practice in Southbridge. A native of Ukraine, Dr. Sayko received his medical degree from Lviv State Medical Institute and completed his fellowship at Zaporozhyte Institute of Advanced Postgraduate Studies in Ukraine. Sayko then completed his residency at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in New York. Bluejay Diagnostics, Inc. in Acton appointed Dr. MARK FEINBERG as its chief medical advisor. Feinberg is a cardiovascular medicine specialist at Brigham and Women's Hospital and an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is also an affiliated faculty member at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. Feinberg received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed an internal medicine Oriol Health Care, headquartered in Holden, welcomed BOZENA "Bo" MAKOWSKI of Grafton as director of nursing for Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston. Makowski was born in Poland and immigrated to the USA in 1980 after graduating college with a degree in pharmaceutical science. Makowski's predecessor, CYNTHIA SNYDER of Paxton, has moved into the director of nursing position at Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Snyder had served as the Oakdale director of nursing for the past seven years. The Oakdale and Holden facilities are both part of Oriol Health Care. UMass Memorial Medical Center President Dr. MICHAEL GUSTAFSON was voted onto the Board of Trustees of the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association. As an MHA Board member, Gustafson will help advance the healthcare community's mission to provide high quality, affordable, and equitable care for patients in Massachusetts. He will also chair the association's Clinical Issues Advisory Council (CIAC). Gustafson was named president of UMass Memorial Medical Center in 2018. Prior to his role at Memorial Medical, Gustafson served for seven years as the chief operating officer and president for Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain. KRISTINE BOSTEK was elected as MassPACE Association Board Chair. MassPACE is an all-inclusive elderly healthcare facility located in Boston. MassPACE elected Bostek to help expand comprehensive health care services to M o v e r s & S h a k e r s BOZENA "Bo" MAKOWSKI residency at Duke University Medical Center and cardiology fellowships at Harvard School of Public Health and the Brigham and Women's Hospital. RYAN JOHNSTON was appointed vice president of Integrated Care at Open Sky Community Services based in Worcester. In this role, Johnston will oversee Outpatient Services, the Central Community Health Partnership, and a new federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant-funded Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. Johnston previously worked at Open Sky until he accepted a position with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health in 2018. His new position as Vice President of Integrated Care marks his return to Open Sky Community Services. Middlesex Digestive Health & Endoscopy Center in Acton announced that Dr. MICHAEL DeSIMONE joined the practice. DeSimone is a general gastroenterologist with special interests in inf lammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He earned his medical degree from Brown University, completed his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School and completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at UMass Memorial Medical Center. The Center also expanded its team with the hirings of nurse practitioners CHRSTINA DUNN and BEVERLY WANG along with office management staffer MARIANNE KITCHENKA. Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. in Worcester announced that TRACY DERUISSEAU, director of the Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) pro- gram with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, was award- ed the Association for Behavioral Healthcare's Outstanding Leadership Award. Deruisseaux has led the pro- gram for inmates since its inception in 2020. UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester announced the addition of four new physicians. DR. ARVIND BADHEY, is an otolaryngologist; DR. SAKEINA HOWARD-WILSON is a hospi- talist; DR. MATTHEW LoCONTE, is an emergency medicine physician; and DR. PRATEEK SHUKLA, is an endocri- nologist/diabetes physician. Open Sky Community Services, a behavioral health and human ser- vices agency based in Worcester, has elected GINA PLATA-NINO to its Board of Directors. Plata-Nino is an attorney at Central West Justice Center, an affiliate of Community Legal Aid which special- izes in food insecurity. She has earned several recognitions for her advocacy efforts including the Massachusetts Bar Association's Rising Star Award in 2019 and the Katherine Erskine Award for Business and Law from the YWCA in 2021. DOUG BROWN, president of com- munity hospitals and chief admin- istrative officer for UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, was elected into the membership of the American Antiquarian Society located in Worcester. Brown received this honor in recognition of his medical leader- ship and his many writings on health- care innovation.
