The Greater Hartford Arts Council will have new leadership this spring following the board's announcement that Rev. Shelley D. Best is taking over as CEO in April. She'll take over for interim CEO Kate McOmber, who has been serving in that capacity since September 2020. McOmber will assume the role of chief operating officer when Best moves to CEO. Best comes to the arts council with more than 20 years of nonprofit experience in the Hartford area, including as executive director of The Conference of Churches since 2001. Best also founded 224 EcoSpace in 2012, an arts, health and wellness center in Hartford. Glastonbury CPA firm FML recently announced four new partners: Mary Wisenski, Matthew Soroka, Amber Tucker and Jim Arcouette. Wisenski joined FML in 2004 and has worked to expand the firm's assurance and advisory practice working with clients in industries such as manufacturing and utilities. Soroka has been part of FML's assurance and advisory practice since 2008. He supports both publicly traded and privately held companies in industries such as technology and manufacturing. Tucker has been a leader in FML's nonprofits practice since 2017. Arcouette has over 34 years of experience in accounting and taxation, most recently as CFO of Adams & Knight. He was previously a director at FML from 2004 to 2007. Longtime Cigna Corp. employee Cynthia Ryan has been tapped as the Bloomfield-based health insurer's next chief human resources officer, the company announced. Ryan, who has held several HR roles at Cigna over the past 23 years, will replace John Murabito, who had served in the post for nearly 19 years. Murabito, who also served as Cigna's chief administrative officer, will retire effective April 1, the company said. He joined the company in 2003 and led Cigna's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, charitable giving and the Cigna Foundation, the company said. Ryan most recently served as senior vice president and human resources officer for Cigna's U.S. businesses. The American Heart Association has named Adria Giordano its new executive director in Connecticut. Giordano will lead staff and revenue field operations, Connecticut board development, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives to reduce health disparities across Connecticut. Giordano has more than 20 years working in the nonprofit arena. She has been associate vice president at Connecticut Children's Medical Center and executive director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving Hartford CT Chapter. The UConn Foundation has named Montique Cotton Kelly senior vice president for stakeholder engagement and chief operating officer. Cotton Kelly will be responsible for driving operational and capital campaign strategy, overseeing key administrative functions, and guiding a culture of inclusivity. She manages the departments of alumni relations, marketing and communications, annual giving, stewardship and board engagement. She joined the foundation in 2014 and was previously executive director of Bowling Green State University's Alumni Association. Breana Vessichio, an attorney with Hartford law firm Reid and Riege, has been named a commissioner of the Hartford Business Improvement District. Vessichio joins a group of 22 other commissioners who serve as the executive body of the district, which works to enhance a 60-block stretch in and around downtown Hartford by providing services that supplement those provided by the city of Hartford. Civil and environmental engineering firm Fuss & O'Neill has hired Jamie Brätt as an associate business line manager for community development. In her new role, Brätt will collaborate with public and private developers to navigate the complexities of signature building projects, both new construction and adaptive reuse. Brätt, a Trinity College alum, previously worked at Infosys and was the city of Hartford's former head of planning and economic development. Rev. Shelley D.
