B I Z 21 M A R C H 7 , 2 0 2 2 WITH PROJECTS UNDERWAY, PM CONSTRUCTION HAS HAD A BUSY WINTER Milder winter weather has been a boon to construction projects across Maine.One contractor that is benefitting from the early thaw is Saco-based PM Construction Co. In South Portland, PM Construction is finishing up the Latitude at Clark's Pond proj- ect, with work on the fourth and final building of the 256-unit apartment complex entering its final stages. The buildings have a variety of layouts, with each unit includ- ing a range of bedroom-bathroom setups, as well as laundry and balcony options. In Portland, the Daymark condo project on Chestnut Street is underway. The seven- story, 70,000-square-foot building will include 52 units and high-end amenities. The developer of the $22 million project is Middleton, Mass.-based Procopio Cos. Portland-based Archetype handled design. The lender is the Bank of New England. Also in Portland, the 218 Washington project in Portland is picking up momen- tum. The condo building will include 45 units throughout four floors, with garage parking and a rooftop deck. The devel- oper is Vincent Maietta. E l s e w h e r e i n P o r t l a n d , P M Construction recently completed reno- vation of 66 State St., known as Freedom Place, a low-income housing facility that provides services to women who are expe- riencing homelessness and/or struggling with substance use disorder. The three- story, 20,000-square-foot building has 38 resident rooms, multiple bath/shower rooms and updated kitchen and dining areas, as well as office space. The project was led by Developers Collaborative of Portland. OTHER PROJECTS UNDERWAY IN MAINE In Scarborough, the marriage of Rosemont Market and Harbor Fish Market is set to open soon in what's now known as Firehouse Village, a former public safety building. Maniac Community Fitness will be another tenant. Development of Firehouse Village has been a team effort by Jack Soley, a principal at Portland real estate firm East Brown Cow Management Inc., and Tim Hebert, co-owner of Lewiston- based Hebert Construction. In Portland, Scarborough-based Landry/ French Construction is doing site work on a parcel at the corner of Valley Street and C Street. In Portland, Rockport-based Penobscot Cos. is at work on 52 Hanover St., which will have 171 luxury residential units and 6,400-square-feet of commercial space. Completion is targeted for mid-2023. In Por tland, New York-based Turner Construction is working on the Malone Family Tower for the Maine Medical Center expansion. It is expected to open in early 2024.
