Tranzillo previ- ously served as the aquarium's director of development since April 2020, a position she took just weeks aer the attraction closed for three months because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In her new role, Tranzillo will lead a new department that combines the development and marketing and com- munications departments, as well as a new team dedicated to the aquarium's creative assets. CTNext picks new executive director CTNext has named Onyeka Obiocha, the former managing director of the Tsai Center for Innovative inking at Yale, as its new leader. CTNext is an entrepreneurship program overseen by the state's quasi-public venture lending arm Connecticut Innovations. Obiocha, a New Haven resident, comes to the organization aer years of experience as an entrepreneur and businessman. In addition to his recent time at Yale, Obiocha was a director at Inte- grated Capitals and Learning at the Heron Foundation. Obiocha is also the founder of Sharelogical, an e-commerce business, and co-founder of A Happy Life, a coffee company in New Haven. Paier College names new provost Following a nation- wide search, Paier College has named James Page as its new provost. Page joins Paier from the University of Bridgeport, where he served as the under- graduate program director in the School of Business. In his new role at Paier, Page will be responsible for overseeing daily aca- demic operations and helping to define the college's strategic academic vision. He will report directly to college Presi- dent Joseph M. Bierbaum. Athletic director at Albertus Magnus to retire Jim Abromaitis, the director of athletics at Albertus Magnus College, plans to retire at the end of the academic year. Abromaitis, a Farmington resident, joined Albertus in 2013 and has been credited with helping to strengthen its NCAA Division III athletics program. Albertus will conduct a national search to identify Abromaitis' replacement. Gaylord appoints new HR administrator Gaylord Spe- cialty Healthcare, a nonprofit reha- bilitation-focused healthcare system headquartered in Wallingford, recently hired Karla Gui- maraes as human resources systems administrator. Guimaraes joined Gaylord from Pep- siCo, where she was an HR generalist. In her new role, Guimaraes will administer HR-related systems for Gay- lord and will lead future system-related projects and staff training. Arts organization picks new programming, exhibit director NXTHVN, a local arts organization, is welcoming curator and art historian Kalia Brooks as director of programming and exhibitions. Founded by artist Titus Kaphar and impact investor Jason Price, NXTHVN is an artistic center with programming and professional development for emerging artists and curators. Brooks, who has consulted for the organization since 2018, will direct curated exhibitions, public programs, artist projects, community engagement initiatives, publications and fellowship and apprenticeship programs. Koskoff firm expands litigation team e law firm Koskoff Koskoff & Bie- der, which has offices in Bridgeport and New Haven, has expanded its litigation team with the hiring of attorney Colin Antaya. Antaya joins the firm as an associate. Previously, Antaya was a legal fellow at the Conservation Law Foundation, where he focused on the development of legal and policy approaches to reduce the use of pesticides in New England. Antaya, a New Haven resident, also previously clerked for the Hon. Steven D. Ecker of the Connecticut Supreme Court. University of Bridgeport appoints new strategic plan leader e University of Bridgeport recently appointed Elena Cahill to serve in the new role of vice president of innovation, strategy and advancement. In addition to con- tinuing to oversee the university's Bauer Hall Innovation Center, Cahill will be responsible for developing the university's strategic plan, as well as management of advancement operations, including fund- raising to support program expansion, capital projects and other initiatives.
