In 1953, Skip Hammond started Hammond Lumber
Company with his wife, Verna. His philosophy was
to "saw straight, talk straight, and do more for the
customer than the guy down the road." Since then,
Hammond Lumber Company has grown into Maine's
largest independent lumber and building material
supplier—with 21 locations around the state and
more than 800 employees. We thank all of those
employees, customers old and new, and our trusted
vendors for helping us get where we are today.
