MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor said that James Godwin, scientist, had his research paper, "Identification of the Adult Hematopoietic Liver as the Primary Reservoir for the Recruitment of Pro-regenerative Macrophages Required for Salamander Limb Regeneration," published in the journal Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. Brown, Holmes & Milliken Agency in Ellsworth announced that Melanie Wyman was recognized by the Maine Insurance Agents Association as its "2021 Young Insurance Professional of the Year." Verrill, a law firm in Portland, said it was ranked nationally for its health care practice (Tier 2) and had 49 of its Maine-based metropolitan practice areas recognized by the U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers. GrowSmart Maine selected the Center for an Ecology-Based Economy in Norway as the winner of its "Outstanding Community Development Initiatives" award at its fourth annual Smart Growth Awards. The city of Lewiston, Community Concepts and Choice Neighborhood Partners, for its Choice Neighborhood Transformation Plan - Growing our Tree Streets, captured the "Outstanding Plan Award," Planner Evan Richert received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" and Portland Housing Authority's Solterra Apartments was named the "Outstanding Project."
