Kenneth J. Bates President & CEO, Open Sky Community Services Ken Bates is President & CEO of Open Sky Community Services, Inc. Open Sky is a comprehensive health and human service organization with 1,300 employees and 100 programs throughout Central and Eastern Massachusetts. Open Sky employees provide a range of innovative community services and supports, making a difference in the lives of thousands of individuals and families with mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, brain injury, autism spectrum disorder, substance use disorders and other complex challenges. He received his undergraduate degree in Urban Studies from Worcester State University and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Assumption University. In 2021 he received an honorary Ph.D. from Assumption University. Mr. Bates has extensive leadership experience in non-profit health and human services. In 2018, he led the successful merger of Alternatives Unlimited, Inc. and The Bridge of Central Massachusetts to form Open Sky Community Services, Inc. Prior to his position at Open Sky Community Services, he served as CEO at The Bridge of Central Massachusetts and Executive Director of New Business and Financial Growth for the Commonwealth Medicine at UMass Medical School. He also served as Vice-President at Advocates, Inc. and Director at Spectrum Health Systems. He currently serves as: Vice Chairperson on the board of the Association of Behavioral Healthcare of Massachusetts (ABH); board member of Association of Developmental Disability Providers (ADDP), Parent Professional Advocacy League (PPAL and the Children's League of Massachusetts; member of Harrington Healthcare System; member governance committee of Fallon 365 Care ACO; member of the Steering Committee and of the Coalition for a Healthy Greater Worcester; and co-chair of the Mayor's (Worcester) Mental Health Task Force. He was formerly on the board of the New England Association of Drug Court Professionals. In 2019 Mr. Bates was named the Nonprofit Business Leader of the Year by the Worcester Business Journal. Ken was born, raised and currently lives in Worcester with his wife Kathy and they have 3 grown children and a Goldendoodle…Rudy! Richard Burke President and CEO, Fallon Health Richard Burke has served as the President and CEO of Fallon Health since 2015 and has held numerous other leadership positions during his 24-year tenure. In his current role, he has positioned Fallon—which is both a health plan and provider of care—to be a leader in providing high-quality, coordinated care and coverage to the diverse communities Fallon serves. Under Burke's leadership, and continuing along a strategic path that is unique among independent health plans in Massachusetts, Fallon has set its sights on becoming the leading provider of government programs in the region. Prior to his appointment as President and CEO, Burke held the position of President of Senior Care Services and Government Programs. His responsibilities included overseeing Fallon's government product lines serving both aging populations and high-risk populations of all ages, including Fallon's Medicare Advantage, PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) and SCO (Senior Care Options) plans. Throughout his career with Fallon, Burke has led the organization to grow its government programs business. This growth includes the largest statewide expansion of Medicare Advantage and SCO in the company's history, launching three MassHealth Accountable Care Organizations and making its PACE program among the ten largest in the country. Burke is Chair of the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans (MAHP). He is also a board member at Assumption University, the Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC) and the Alliance of Community Health Plans. A graduate of Assumption University, Burke holds a master's degree in political science from Boston College and a master's in business administration from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University.
