Hartford's Real Art Ways announces $14.7M expansion Real Art Ways recently announced a $14.7 million expansion and renovation of its current Hartford location, at 56 Arbor St., which will include the hiring of an additional 25 full- and part-time staff and 120 temporary construction jobs, and the addition of three new cinemas. The expansion and renovation of the Arbor Street site — where Real Art Ways has been based for 31 years — is expected to begin in the fall of 2022 and is anticipated to take up to two years to complete. The 46-year-old contemporary arts organization is expected to close on the $4 million purchase of the building later this year. In addition to adding three cinemas, which will bring the total number to four, other areas of expansion include: educational space for classes and workshops; a theatrical area for performing arts events; a cafe and gathering space; and rental space for events, offices and studios. IT giant HCL expects to add 500 new jobs in Hartford/CT over next 2-3 years HCL Technologies, a global IT business that debuted its new Hartford office Nov. 12, plans to add 500 new jobs in Connecticut, including about 200 in the Capital City over the next two to three years, the company said. HCL, which is based in India, is opening its "global delivery center" at 10 State House Square, a plan first announced pre-pandemic, in Feb. 2020, due to Hartford's proximity to a major client, tools and hardware manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker. The site is expected to expand operations to support customers in a number of fields, including manufacturing, aerospace, defense, insurance, life science and health care. To that end, the company said it will be adding positions in augmented reality, infrastructure, information technology applications, digital workplaces, aerospace engineering and the internet of things. Plan for housing in former tobacco warehouse in Glastonbury revived A Wallingford-based developer is reviving a proposal to convert the former Consolidated Cigar Corp. warehouse on Hubbard Street in Glastonbury to multifamily housing. The new proposal, known as "Warehouse 38," comes from JS Advisors LLC, of which Jonathan Sullivan of Wallingford is principal. The proposal calls for 31 housing units, but they will be condos rather than apartments, which were originally proposed in 2014. The project still needs town approval. — Alex Wood | Journal Inquirer Spirit Airlines adds nonstop route between Bradley and Miami Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has launched its new, nonstop service from Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks to Miami, Florida.
