Caroline's, owned by Caroline Frankel, opened its flagship store in 2019 and was among the first dispensaries to open in Mass. Caroline's website says the Hopedale location will open in fall. Blackstone Technology Park property sold for $5M Roughly 70 acres of land along Lackey Dam Road, and sprawling through Uxbridge, Sutton, and Douglas, have been sold for $5 million to Indianapolis real estate firm Scannell Properties. e property was sold by Mary Bedoian of Douglas and Barbara Chaiko of Southampton, Pa., per the deed. e sale closed Sept. 1. Scannell Properties plans to construct a 646,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility on the 70-acre parcel. Lancaster company acquires Leominster plastics manufacturer Beacon Manufacturing Group of Lancaster announced Oct. 4 it acquired Leominster manufacturer Acromatic Plastics, which will change its name to Beacon Engineered Solutions. Beacon Manufacturing Group will gain a 110,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to be made available to its Beacon MedTech Solutions business. Specifically, there are plans to build out Beacon's tooling and liquid silicone rubber molding capabilities at the Leominster location. Worcester unemployment rate falls to 5.7%, after July spike In the Worcester metropolitan area, the unemployment rate decreased in August, falling 0.3 percentage points from July to 5.7%, according to a data release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Massachusetts saw similar trends, with the unemployed portion of the labor force falling from 5.7% in July to 5.4% in August. Worcester airport begins $2.1M taxiway rehab A $2.1-million rehabilitation project funded by the Federal Aviation Administration is underway on the longest taxiway at the Worcester Regional Airport, which is not expected to impact flights.
