OKAY Industries works with large medical device companies supplying patient-critical components and assemblies. Many of the parts we make are for life-changing surgical procedures or are implanted in the body, so the quality of what we supply must be perfect. What do you do in your current job? I have the honor and privilege of being the president and CEO of Windsor Federal, an 85-year-old mutual savings association. My job is to keep us focused on our mission of strengthening our communities through sound business partnerships and to make sure we remain committed to our founding values, including being mutually owned by our customers. And we are proud to be the only My main areas of focus are on building a positive culture, working on the recruitment and retention of a top-notch workforce, working on strategy/vision/mission with the senior team and board of directors, identifying ways to utilize technology to make us smarter, better, and faster and looking at ways that we can continue to differentiate ourselves from the competition. What have been your biggest professional accomplishments over the past year? Navigating the company through COVID; leading our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy with the formulation of our DEI committee; investment and expansion of our Nextech Labs facilities; and helping to raise more than $600,000 with the New Britain School System for the new Manufacturing, Engineering & Technology Academy. In what ways are you involved in the community? I serve on several nonprofit boards, including Hartford HealthCare Central Region and ReadyCT. What's your guiding business principle? What have been your biggest professional accomplishments over the past year? During the pandemic, we provided over $100 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans, protecting over 9,000 local jobs. This was done while much of our staff worked remotely and made a record number of non-PPP loans. Our institution grew 25% and had record earnings. In addition, we renovated 20,000 square feet of office space. In what ways are you involved in the community? I am on the Bradley Development League board; Central Connecticut State University School of Business advisory board; and a Rotary member, as well as chair of the American Bankers Association Mutual Institutions Committee, to name a few.
