www.wbjournal.com Worcester Business Journal Giving Guide 2021 11 Endowment Fund Foundation Our goal is to raise $10 million in the first 5 years for the endowment to ensure we can execute our top priori es including: • Build capacity to strengthen our organiza on • Preserve and maintain our state-of-the-art facility • Increase program quality • Reach even more youth www.bgcworcester.org/endowment We serve Worcester's children and teens from under- resourced areas including Main South, Great Brook Valley, and Plumley Village. • We serve 8,000 youth a year, 93% of which do not receive services from any other agency. • Although an annual membership is $25, it costs our Club approximately $600 per child a year to provide our life-saving programs. A collabora on between the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester and the Business & College Communi es. *Did you know that one in three young people will reach the age of 19 without ever having a mentor of any kind? Monthly events will be hosted at the Boys & Girls Club as opportuni es for Mentors & Mentees to meet. Events include; • Kick Off Event • Holiday Bash • Spa Party • Hoops Clinic • Paint Night • STEM Lab The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester and the Business & College Communi es are vital components of the workforce pipeline in Worcester. The proposed collabora on will not only strengthen our youth, but our en re community. Youth will receive addi onal support and resources, and business professionals & college students will be immersed in meaningful service. Boys & Girls Club of Worcester will provide volunteer opportuni es including monthly events for mentors and mentees to meet. Mentor trainings & coaching, along with background checks will be included. Business & College Community will recruit professionals & students to be mentors to our members. The mentors provide support & knowledge to our youth, which will contribute to their emo onal and academic growth. The Program Mentoring Opportuni es For the Future *According to MENTOR, the na onal mentoring partnership, mentored kids are 55% more likely to enroll in college, 52% less likely to skip school, and 78% more likely to volunteer regularly. They also found that they were far less likely to try dangerous substances, and far more likely to par cipate in extracurricular ac vi es.
