Louis Brady President/CEO Joseph Scardino MISSION STATEMENT SERVICE AREA: Family Health Center of Worcester serves Greater Worcester and South Worcester County. Family Health Center provides care in 17 locations, with a main site in downtown Worcester and satellite sites in Southbridge, Millbury, and Webster. To improve the health and well-being of all residents in the Greater Worcester area, especially culturally diverse populations, by providing access to affordable, high quality, integrated, comprehensive, and respectful primary health care and social services, regardless of patients' ability to pay. The top three funding sources for Family Health Center of Worcester are the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. These entities provide 30% of Family Health Center's operating budget. Family Health Center is a Commonwealth Corps host site for service interns. Family Health Center's volunteer Board of Directors and committees are comprised of 51% patients/clients of the health center, and 49% community volunteers. Additional volunteer opportunities include volunteering at Art in the City and other community events hosted by Family Health Center. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES POST-PANDEMIC: Family Health Center of Worcester remains on the frontlines of the COVID pandemic, offering COVID vaccines to patients and providing COVID testing, contact tracing and care management. As we have throughout the pandemic, Family Health Center continues to provide vital health care, behavioral health services, substance use treatment, and dental services through telemedicine and in-person visits. The Board of Directors is a committed group of diverse individuals who recognize the key role that Family Health Center of Worcester plays in the Greater Worcester area. The health center is a major provider of not only excellent health care for thousands of residents, but of many related services including dentistry, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and services for families and individuals experiencing homelessness, for which there is no other comprehensive and culturally competent source available. – Joseph Scardino, Board Chair Family Health Center of Worcester relies on the generosity and support of the community to fund critical health services for low- income, uninsured, or underinsured families and individuals. Family Health Center offers online opportunities for giving through special appeals conducted throughout the year. Contributions to our annual holiday appeal help support the health and well-being of our entire community. Family Health Center also accepts donations of new items for our low-income, homeless, or refugee patients, including personal hygiene supplies (e.g., soap, razors, shampoo), newborn essentials, and cold weather garments such as mittens, hats, socks, and scarves.
