66 HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | AUGUST 23, 2021 TJ Clarke II Q: What is your biggest professional accomplishment since receiving this award? M y biggest professional accomplishment since receiving this award is working for a notable federally qualifi ed health center and serving as a director. I am humbled to lead a department that has been instrumental in helping the organization expand its ability to provide healthcare services to individuals throughout the Greater Hartford community during unforeseen times in our country. Working in the public health fi eld has been challenging and rewarding. As I refl ect on some remarkable accomplishments, I am proud to work with a great leadership team that continues to advocate for the voiceless and works tirelessly each day to reduce systematic barriers that limit access to health care services. There's been no greater reward than serving the community in this way. I 've grown my company, ScriptFlip! to be a leading firm providing coaching and consulting to entrepreneurs and businesses that want to prioritize their commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti- racism. We have clients all over the world, and have grown our team, prioritizing team members living in Greater Hartford. We recently launched the Institute for Equity-Centered Coaching, offering certifications to professionals who want to become culturally responsive, trauma- informed, anti- racist coaches and leaders. In early 2021, I received a book deal to write a business book that will cover anti-racist entrepreneurship and business practices. Be on the lookout for The Anti-Racist Business Book, published by Row House Publishers in March, 2022. Year Won: 2016 Current Title: CEO and Founder Company: The Institute for Equity Centered Coaching Current Age: 39 40 Year Won: 2017 Current Title: Owner & CEO Company: Thought Partner Solutions Current Age: 41 Jamal Jimerson Q: What is your biggest professional accomplishment since receiving this award? I n addition to my work as the founder and executive director of Minority Inclusion Project, I also launched Thought Partner Solutions, a consulting practice dedicated to supporting organizations on their journey to become antiracist. I have worked with hundreds of small business and municipal leaders, non-profit board members and senior executives by using a transformational process I developed known as RE-ACT (Racial Equity Acknowledgement, Commitment & Transformation) for Change. I introduced RE- ACT for Change immediately following the murder of George Floyd. Since that time, I have provided consulting, coaching and training aimed at advancing racial equity. Humbly, in my profession, it is challenging to measure one's impact. Many clients describe benefits from our partnership as including increased awareness of systemic and institutional racism, advances in their anti-racial competence and changes in their leadership and management strategy because of our work together. Over time, the true impact of our work will be more racially and ethnically diverse boards, an end to institutional racism, and the adoption of fair and equitable processes, practices and outcomes for all. I am thankful for the acknowledgement provided by Hartford Business Journal. 40 Q: What is your biggest professional accomplishment since receiving this award? I was honored to accept a position as CEO of Jewish Family Services in West Hartford in July 2020. To take on this leadership role during a pandemic was a huge undertaking, and leading through the pandemic and the resulting mental health crisis continues to be a challenge. This is definitely my biggest professional accomplishment since receiving the award in 2017. We are all living through one of the most difficult times ever, and to work side by side with clinicians, case managers, and other caring employees who are focusing on the wellbeing of our clients, is a privilege. I hope I will look back on this time in the future and appreciate the full scope of this accomplishment. For now, I just get up every morning with the willingness to try to make a positive impact for our clients.
