I t was a huge honor to receive the 40 Under 40 award and to have had the most profile clicks in 2015. As I reflect on that year, I often think about that theme: Life is a Journey, Travel it Well. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and connect with amazing people in my cohort and to thank family, friends and my colleagues for their wonderful support. Receiving this honor means that the business community recognizes the many talents of young folks in the region and HBJ should be acknowledged for that insight. I'm so proud of the opportunity I had in 2015 to shine a light on the scholarship program at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Since then, I earned a promotion and have been able to connect many more generous donors with deserving students in our 29-town region. We all benefit when students in our community reach their academic potential — without the burden of worrying about how to afford a degree. A s a development professional at heart, I'm most proud of the connections I've helped people make. Sometimes, it's an individual starting a new fund at the the Hartford Foundation and the community. As a region, we should be incredibly inspired by the work of nonprofits across greater Hartford during COVID-19. These charities kept your neighbors fed and their kids cared for during one heck of a year. I helped connect donors to the Hartford Foundation's COVID-19 Response Fund, which ultimately provided $10 million to greater Hartford charities. We now offer the Action Fund for Racial Justice — an effort to put significant resources behind organizations disrupting the systems and barriers actively harming our friends and fellow citizens.
