The decision of moving our energy technology from the lab bench at UConn to the market by starting VoltXon Inc is my biggest career accomplishment. VoltXon is supported by a well-experienced team including CEO Mark Smith, COO Esraa Elsanadidy, advisor James Rusling and many wonderful mentors at UConn. M onica Perez is the Workforce Program Specialist for the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology. She facilitates the Advanced Manufacturing Employer Partnership, a Workforce Solutions Collaborative Metro Hartford industry partnership, that helps employers recruit, train and retain employees. Perez manages job quality grants focused on supportive services for entry level workers, helping employers build an inclusive culture and supervisor training sessions. She leads workforce efforts around young adult employment, diversity, equity and inclusion. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm and ensures all teammates work towards a common purpose. She leads the firm and its employees in setting clear goals that align with CTWM's strategic vision. My biggest accomplishment has been helping the firm quadruple in size since I joined in 2016. I've helped systematize our operations by creating efficient and repeatable processes. Additionally, I have used my education background to develop our employee training programs and create clear growth paths for every employee. K arishma Pinto is the newly appointed Web & Marketing Associate with The Connecticut Convergence Institute for Translation in Regenerative Engineering at UConn Health. She also works as game-day production staff at the Hartford Yard Goats, helping to produce their live TV broadcasts. Pinto previously served as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator & Race Equity Lead at Leadership Greater Hartford where she played a key role in organically growing the organization's brand awareness via social media. Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: 1. At Leadership Greater Hartford, I contributed by bringing new marketing tactics and ideas, as well as by supporting DEI efforts. 2. Oversees TV graphics at the award-winning production team at the Hartford Yard Goats. 3. Volunteers with a variety of community organizations and am a champion of Hartford and the region. 4. Use my jewelry business to give back to the community by donating $1 from every bracelet sold. What's been your biggest professional/work accomplishment so far in your career? In my previous role at Leadership Greater Hartford, I helped facilitate conversation and action towards becoming a more equitable organization as the Race Equity Lead.
