69 HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | AUGUST 23, 2021 Christopher Cykley Q: What is your biggest professional accomplishment since receiving this award? S o much has changed over the last few years since I won this award, but the most challenging (and rewarding) aspect has been surviving the pandemic while still growing our business. Every family and every business across the country was aff ected in some way, however I'm grateful that we were successful at not only sustaining our employees, but also experiencing tremendous growth over the last 18 months. Owning a company like CSG that has been awarded numerous high profi le contracts throughout the state has encouraged me to develop the leadership skills to see and provide a future for our entire staff . I was honored when I won this award back in 2018, and am even more so now to be included amongst a class of such esteemed peers. Year Won: 2018 Current Title: Vice President Company: Construction Solutions Group LLC Current Age: 42 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 Emily Hultquist Q: What is your biggest professional accomplishment since receiving this award? I became director of policy and planning at the Capitol Region Council of Governments. I was able to continue shaping the agency's transit-oriented development and create a cross- disciplinary collaborative to address planning and economic development along the CTfastrak and Hartford rail corridors. The hardest professional decision came at the onset of the pandemic. I had my second baby on March 7, 2020. I never anticipated having to entertain the thought of leaving my job. However, my choice to transition to "director of house and home" became the best one for my family. I have been thankful for being able to do some consulting, in particular, with the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Take note: If you want to hire a hard worker who will not wilt under stress or pressure - hire a mother. Nigel, 4, and Jasper, 1, and I have been building many cities of blocks and Legos and the occasional transit-oriented development! I look forward to crossing paths with colleagues and fellow 40U40 alumni again. E very day you set out to do great work and accomplish your goals. When that happens to align with a recognition, such as the 40 Under 40 award, it is an unexpected yet remarkable honor. It is always inspiring to see the ways in which people are working to better our community or live out their dreams. I love learning from other people to fi nd ways to improve. The 2018 class was fi lled with amazing honorees with success stories from which I was able to learn and grow. We have built a strong network and as leaders in our respective fi elds, this has allowed us to further each other's goals and, in turn, grow and develop our communities and the state. R eceiving the 40 Under Forty award is and will always be one of my proudest professional accomplishments. Since earning the 40U40 award in 2019, I have enjoyed developing personal and professional relationships with my fellow 2019 "classmates." I have also had two of the best years ever in my career, including two record-breaking sales. In 2020 I earned the coveted Centurion producer award, one of the most prestigious awards presented to a Century 21 producer, ranking me in the top 1% nationally. I would like to, once again, thank my family, friends, and clients for their continued support. Congratulations to this year's award earners; I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
