She is one of the company's original employees and with the help of her team has helped the organization grow throughout New England and more recently, has looked nationally, establishing a foothold in the greater Atlanta market. Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: 1. Never asks my team to do anything I wouldn't do myself. 2. Educates high school and college students on career options in the construction trades. 3. Has worked in every position within the organization; having started in the field. 4. Giving back to the community where I live and work is part of my foundation and I've been actively involved in volunteering for as long as I can remember. What's been your biggest professional/work accomplishment so far in your career? Becoming an owner of the company. I've worked in almost every part of the business, but it is a leap of faith to take responsibility for the entire company's welfare. I am blessed to have had the training, mentorship and the solid support of an experienced team behind me. Fun Fact I love Mondays. J ennifer Mathieu is the Director of the Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UConn, where she supports economic development by fostering initiatives for startups and small businesses. She is a mentor within community organizations, serves on several advisory boards for startups and consults with entrepreneurs. An entrepreneur herself, she founded Jennifer Elizabeth Design Studio, an inspirational carded jewelry company. that has partnered with brands and subscription box services and is available in 125 retail locations nationwide. Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: 1. Channeled over $1M in grant and other funding into UConn to support entrepreneurship programs. 2. Founding member of the MedTech Advisory Board that launched the first Digital Health accelerator in Hartford. 3. Founded and launched several new initiatives within UConn and state-wide to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem. 4. Helped to start, launch, and grow hundreds of startups and small businesses over the last four years. Fun Fact My siblings and I have matching sunflower tattoos to honor our mom who passed away a few years ago. M ike Macri is the senior market manager of the Xfinity Retail Stores and is responsible for four of the locations in the region. Macri has been with Comcast for 14 years in numerous leadership roles including customer care, inbound sales, project management and most recently the retail stores. In his current job, Macri is responsible for ensuring retail store operational success, sales execution, world class customer experience and the wellbeing of 55 employees. Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: 1. Mentorship to both colleagues at Comcast and youth in the community. 2. Successful, strategic and nimble leader across functions including customer service, sales, project management and retail while consistently executing on deliverables. 3. Volunteer in the community through Comcast Cares Day, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Toys for Tots and Read Across America. 4. While in project management, launched Xfinity Mobile for the region at Comcast as well as oversaw the building of eight brand new Xfinity Stores. What's been your biggest professional/work accomplishment so far in your career? For 10 months straight during the Covid-19 pandemic, I provided leadership to all the retail stores in the region while another manager was hired. My proactive measures helped ensure we had all the required PPE for our employees and customers, a nimble staffing strategy and maintained business imperatives. K arri May is the director of facilities at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. With a strong background in healthcare design, she is responsible for a real estate portfolio of just under one million square feet, plant operations and planning, design and construction for the organization. As a passionate believer in the impact the physical environment can have on patient outcomes, May has dedicated her career to the creation of spaces that heal. Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: 1. Accelerated leadership track record includes promotion from team member to manager and then director within a span of 14 months. 2. Created "Planning, Design, and Construction" department that has successfully executed multiple award-winning projects over the last three years. 3. Serves as president of the Connecticut Healthcare Engineer's Society and is a former "Woman on the Rise" honoree of the Connecticut PWC. 4. Certified in Lean for Healthcare, credentialed by the American College of Healthcare Architects and frequent industry expert speaker and panel participant.
