More than 1.74 million passen

May, according to Massachusetts
Port Authority data detailed at a
board meeting on Thursday. That's
a 22 percent increase from April
but still 55 percent below the
same time in 2019. Logan fielded
19,407 aircraft in May, a 14 per
-
cent increase over April and 49
percent below May 2019.
For the week ending June 20,
the highest number of passengers
were screened -- about 262,000
-- since mid-April 2020, according
to the quasi-public agency's data.
"The numbers are trending in
the right direction," Massport
Aviation Director Ed Freni said. "But
I just want to highlight the fact that
we are still significantly lower than
where we were in 2019."
Domestic airline capacity is
returning faster than international
traffic, Massport Administration
and Finance Director John
Pranckevicius said, which may

ery. According to Massport data,
62 percent of domestic capacity
has been restored compared to
only 38 percent of international
capacity.
This all comes as Massport
officials described a dramatic
change in customer mix with June
2021 showing 95 percent of pas

sengers were flying for leisure and
only 5 percent for business.
Comparatively, 60 percent of pas-
sengers flew for leisure and 40
percent for business in June
2019, according to the data.
