A sprawling indoor game com-
plex named Level99 opened in the
Natick Mall on June 14, located in
the former Sears, bringing the
Everett-based Night Shift Brewing
along with it.
A 48,000-square-foot venue
with 43 rooms and a 450-person
capacity, Level99 centers around
physical, mental and skill-based
challenges, of which there are
100 varieties, according to a press
release from the company.
The venue also features a
92-seat Night Shift Brewing tap
-
room, 140-seat Night Shift
Brewing Beer Hall and a scratch
kitchen.
"It's two individually elevated
concepts under one roof," said
Level99 CEO Matt DuPlessie, in a
press release.
The business is backed in part
by Ron Shaich, founder and for
-
mer CEO of Panera Bread, who
invested in the company through
ACT III Holdings, a $300-million
fund which invests in restaurants
and consumer companies, accord
-
ing to Shaich's website. Shaich is
managing partner at ACT III.
"This is the first startup for Act
III," said Shaich in a statement.
"What makes Level99 so compel
-
ling is the stand-alone strength of
each individual element of the
concept. You can come for the
challenges, and stay for the food
and beverage. Or you can come
for the food and beverage, and
stay for the challenges."
Level99 will feature rooms that
require unlocking, arena games,
as well as what the company calls
hunts. It opens every day at 11
a.m. and includes pricing for two-
hour, four-hour and full-day
options.
