A division of: New Haven BIZ is a publication of New England Business Media, LLC. N ew Haven's bioscience sector has gotten a lot of good news lately. Biotech startup Arvinas is growing and taking more and new space at the now-under-construction 101 College St. office tower. Yale is also opening a location and supporting a new incubator program there. Halda erapeutics just opened a new location at the Win- chester Works building. Amid that growth there's also an important movement going on to diversify the industry's top ranks. Our cover story this issue spotlights a growing network of women bioscience leaders in Greater New Haven and across the state — from academics to chief executives to investors — who are working to pool their influence to build a pipeline of female biotech leaders and raise the profile of the talented scientists and execu- tives who are already here. eir efforts have picked up steam in the last few months, fueled in part by a renewed focus on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) follow- ing protests over the death of George Floyd last summer. Speaking of DEI, we have another story this issue that aims to pro- vide employers with usable advice on how to diversify their workforce and leadership ranks. It's a hot topic for many companies as they respond to a renewed focus on racial justice and diversity. It's no secret that Yale is a major economic driver in New Haven. In our On e Record Q&A feature, Lauren Zucker, Yale's associate vice president for New Haven affairs and university properties, discusses the Ivy League school's efforts to drive new economic activity in the Elm City. We have two other higher-education-related stories in this issue, including one on Quinnipiac University's ambitious expansion plans and Sa- cred Heart University's first-in-the-state brewery certification program. is issue also features stories on a growing New Haven healthcare technology startup, Inbox Health; the impact financial technology is having on local banks; and startups' increasing demand for chief financial officers. n Michelle Tuccitto Sullo, Managing Editor msullo@newhavenbiz.com Greg Bordonaro, Editor gbordonaro@newhavenbiz.com Diversifying New Haven's growing bioscience sector 4 | Around the Region 5 | By The Numbers 6 | Corner Office 7 | Startups, Technology & Innovation 8 | On the Record | Q&A C o n t e n t s Michelle Tuccitto Sullo T H E L I S T S 20 | Largest MBA programs in Connecticut 22 | Largest Connecticut colleges and universities newhavenBIZ 24 | What's the Deal? 26 | C-Suite 27 | Biz Starts 10 | Women in Bio Greater New Haven leaders steer effort to diversify top ranks of CT's burgeoning life sciences industry. 12 | Flush with Cash Record venture capital funding driving local startups' demand for CFO talent. 14 | Diversifying your Staff Experts offer advice, precautions. 15 | Financial Services Community banks (try to) keep pace with industry's digital transformation. 16 | Future Brew Masters Sacred Heart finds increasing demand for state's first brewing certification program. 18 | Construction Zone Quinnipiac embarks on becoming "University of the Future".
