According to a report from Bloomberg, Chubb CEO Evan Greenberg said during a recent investor conference call that the company's "chapter" involving The Hartford is "closed." "We have moved along," Greenberg said. Chubb submitted three bids in an attempt to acquire The Hartford, and each was rejected by that company's board. Chubb initially valued The Hartford at $65 per share, or $23 billion. Two subsequent offers increased that amount to $67 per share and later $70 per share, according to disclosures by The Hartford. Among that group are all five of the team's original founding sponsors — Trinity Health of New England, Stanley Black & Decker, The Hartford, Cigna and Travelers — and numerous other returning partners, such as Bank of America, PepsiCo and AARP, the team said. The team's owners also said they're working with 4FRONT, a marketing and consulting agency, in their search for a stadium naming rights partner to rename Dillon Stadium in Hartford, where home games are played. The team's first regular season home match will take place May 15, against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. Riverfront Recapture buys 60-acre Hartford-Windsor parcel, plans community park Riverfront Recapture, the nonprofit that manages riverside parks in Hartford and East Hartford, has purchased 60 acres of riverfront land on the Hartford-Windsor town line and plans to build a new community park there. Riverfront Recapture officials said the property will be redeveloped for recreation, with new trails, open green spaces, piers and docks. A purchase price was not disclosed. Currently, plans for the property include the creation of "Garmany Cove," a 9-acre inlet where Riverfront Recapture plans to install a paddle sports and outdoor center, with rowing, kayaking, canoeing, dragon boating and stand-up paddle boarding all available. CT Lottery gets 15 responses in search for sports gambling contractor There are over a dozen applicants vying for the opportunity to administer the rollout of sports betting in Connecticut if it is eventually legalized, state officials announced. According to the Connecticut Lottery Corp., 15 entities responded to its request for qualifications, issued on April 12, seeking "experienced sports betting solution providers for online and retail sports wagering systems and services." The Connecticut Lottery is expected to hear presentations from respondents meeting the agency's standards, and finalists will be invited to submit formal business plans. Regulated sports betting and online gaming — debated for years as a means to boost state tax revenues — moved one step closer to reality when Gov. Ned Lamont recently signed a deal with the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribal nations laying out a tax framework for expanded gambling options. Winstanley sells 3 CT Stop & Shop- anchored properties as part of larger $295M portfolio deal Prominent Connecticut landlord Winstanley Enterprises has sold off a portfolio of 11 Stop & Shop-anchored properties, including three in the Nutmeg State, for $295 million. Combined the 11 properties contain 748,141 square feet of space. Massachusetts-based Winstanley Enterprises and Surrey Equities of New York bought the buildings just over a year ago as part of a 23-property portfolio. The buyer was Illinois-based The Inland Real Estate Group of Cos Inc. Stop & Shop-anchored properties in Cromwell (195 West St., sold for $23.9 million,), Willimantic (1391 Main St., sold for $27.9 million) and Seymour (15 Franklin St.) were part of the deal. The remaining properties were located in Massachusetts (five) and Rhode Island (three).
