The city of Portland hired Tina Pettingill as deputy director of the Health and Human Services Department. Pettingill is the director of education and training at Maine Health. Butler is a selectperson in the town of Waldoboro, Dubay is a council member in the city of Bangor, Helms is a selectman in the town of Grand Isle and Hines is manager in the town of Ludlow and Reed Plantation. The Finance Authority of Maine in Augusta added the Hon. Bettyann Sheats and Renee Ouellette to its board of direc- tors and re-appointed David Daigler to another four-year term as chair of the board. All were nominated by Gov. Janet Mills and confirmed by the Legislature. Sheats is a former politician and an Army veteran who owns a small spe- cialty construction business in Auburn, Ouellette is president and CEO of University Credit Union and Daigler is president of the Maine Community College System. [ A C H I E V E M E N T S ] Meesha Luce, a mem- ber of the personal insurance team at Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden, earned the Certified Professional Insurance agent des- ignation from the American Insurance Marketing and Sales Society. Habitat for Humanity of York County in Kennebunk announced that it presented its "Miles Freeman Business Award for Service" to Hancock Lumber. Geiger, a promotional products dis- tributor in Lewiston, said Tara Hedges earned Certified Advertising Specialist designation and Winter Thatcher and Kris Powell both earned Master Advertising Specialist designation. The Maine Art Education Association selected Serena Sanborn as the winner of its "Art Educator of the Year Award" in the supervisory category. Sanborn is education and outreach coordinator at Waterville Creates. Verrill, a law firm in Portland, announced that attorney Gregory Fryer was recog- nized as a top author for finance and banking in JD Supra's "2021 Readers Choice Awards." Fryer, who was selected from a pool of more than 14,000 authors writing on financial service and bank- ing matters in 2020, was recognized for writing a number of articles on Paycheck Protection Program loan forgiveness.
