Volk Packaging will expand to Sanford Volk Packaging Corp., a Biddeford packaging manufacturer, will expand operations to newly renovated indus- trial space in Sanford and expects to hire 20 employees within the coming year. Derek Volk, owner and CEO, said the company plans to establish a new division, Volk Pack, and set up shop later this spring at One Eagle Drive in Sanford. Volk Packaging makes corrugated and foam products, and is a third-generation family business founded in 1967. It has 100 employees. Volk Pack will handle business-to-busi- ness and business-to-consumer fulfill- ment, repackaging and prepackaging assembly, including for medical supplies. Volk Pack anticipates having around 20 workers on site in Sanford imme- diately, and could make as many as 20 additional hires in the next year. In 2019, Volk Packaging made about 50 million boxes and had $33 million in sales. Chase plans branch for former doughnut shop JPMorgan Chase & Co. will fill in a hole left by a former Krispy Kreme in Saco as it moves ahead with its retail banking rollout in south- ern Maine. A filing with the Maine Bureau of Financial Institutions shows that JPMorgan's Columbus, Ohio- headquartered national bank identifies the future Chase branch location at the intersection of Main Street (U.S. Route 1) and Smith Lane in Saco. Briana Curran, a Boston-based spokeswoman for Chase, told Mainebiz that the space is in a former Krispy Kreme that Chase intends to rebuild with a freestanding drive-through window. e building is at 520 Main St. Chase plans to open a total of five branches in southern Maine by the end of 2022, including one in downtown Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth, Yarmouth and Saco.
