Connecticut law firm Halloran Sage has named attorney Ethan Ung a partner and has hired Dylan Shaw as an associate. Ung is a member of the firm's litigation and intellectual property practice groups. He is a patent attorney, former scientist, inventor and co- author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications. He represents insurers and corporate clients and also counsels startups and established businesses in protecting and enforcing a range of intellectual property rights. Shaw joins the firm's litigation practice group and will be handling personal injury litigation cases as well as automobile and premises liability matters. He's a UConn School of Law graduate. Attorneys Judith A. Blank and Glenn G. Rybacki and paralegal Teri McGehan have joined the public finance practice at law firm Pullman & Comley LLC. Blank practices in the area of state and local public finance, representing government agencies issuing bonds and representing borrowers, lenders, underwriters, trustees and issuers of private activity bonds. Rybacki represents issuers of tax- exempt and taxable bonds as bond counsel and regularly represents underwriters, lenders, borrowers and trustees in all manners of debt transactions. Randy Fiveash, longtime director of Connecticut's Office of Tourism, retired effective April 1. Fiveash joined the Office of Tourism in 2008. At the time, the state's tourism advertising efforts lagged behind most other New England states in scope and sophistication, and money for promotion was tight due to the financial impact of the recession. Fiveash is credited with helping put more of a focus on the industry. Kate Darcy Hohenthal has been re-elected to the Cooperative Education & Internship Association (CEIA) board of directors. CEIA is a national and global leader of work-integrated learning and experiential education. Hohenthal serves as the Northeast vice president for Region 1, which encompasses Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. She works in the University of Hartford Office of Career and Professional Development. Real Art Ways in Hartford has appointed three new officers to its board of trustees as well as two new members. Greg Rohde, director of reinsurance placement at Travelers Cos., has been named board chair. Yedalis Ruiz, director and faculty advisor of Student Bridges, a student-led organization with a mission to increase college access and success for underrepresented students, is vice chair. John Schoenhorn, principal of Hartford law firm Jon L Schoenhorn & Associates, is secretary. Lisa Hoecklin, a social anthropologist and poet, and artist Peter Waitre are trustees. Hartford area insurance executive Martha R. Temple has joined the board of directors of Coriell Life Sciences, a Philadelphia-based genetics testing company. Temple most recently served as CEO of Optum Behavioral Health, part of UnitedHealth Group, and was previously president of the New England market for Aetna. Hartford intellectual disabilities nonprofit Harc has named Daniel McLaughlin its chief financial officer. Formerly a finance management executive at life insurer MassMutual, McLaughlin joins Harc with over 30 years of executive-level financial management, strategy and operational leadership experience.
