The new chap- ter is the largest in New England with 400 members. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland said it received a $20,000 grant from the Avangrid Foundation, the primary philanthropic arm of AVANGRID, the parent company of Central Maine Power. The grant will support the de- velopment of the organization's 3-home community in Freeport. Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution announced that it donated $80,000 to charities and nonprofits in York and Cumberland counties as part of its COVID-19 relief efforts in December. The funding provided support for food insecurity programs, heating assistance, mental health services and personal protective equipment needs. U.S. Sen. Susan Collins said that Portland Housing Authority was awarded a total of $882,883 through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Tenant Protection Voucher program. The vouchers are Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers primarily provided to protect HUD- assisted families from hardship as the result of a variety of actions that occur in HUD's Public Housing properties, the Multifamily Housing portfolios and Mod Rehab properties that would cause the family to lose housing assistance. J.S. McCarthy Printers in Augusta an- nounced the installation of an Expertcut 106 Blanker. The equipment, manufac- tured by Bobst North America Inc. in Roseland, N.J., will give the company added capacity to serve the folding carton packaging market. Children's Center, an early childhood intervention and family support ser- vices organization for children with spe- cial needs, said that it plans to expand its current facility located at 1 Alden Ave. in Augusta by 14,000 square-feet, while renovating 5,000 square-feet of existing space. The expansion will more than double the space and provide ad- ditional classrooms, specialized service areas and administrative space. Central Maine Power announced a donation of $50,000 to the Kennebec Valley Community College Foundation in Fairfield to benefit the college's Electrical Lineworker Technology Program.
