The funds will be used to expand the reach of the council's net- work and build opportunities for small businesses in Central Maine. United Way of Kennebec Valley in Augusta announced that it raised $1.7 million during its 2020 campaign. The total represents a 3% increase in donations from 2019 and the most funds ever raised in support of the or- ganization's 50 partner programs. Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice in Lewiston announced the creation of the Julie Shackley Memorial Scholarship Endowment for Nursing Education for Androscoggin employees who wish to pursue or advance their professional education in nursing. Shackley served as presi- dent and CEO of the organization from 2005-2016. The program provides general support grants to organizations and proj- ects that build strong connections between people in Maine and our land and water. The foundation also announced that its Maine Land Protection grant program awarded $250,000 to eight nonprofit organi- zations across the state. Bar Harbor Bank & Trust reported that its employee giving program, Casual for a Cause, surpassed the $100,000 mark of total donations made to nonprofit organizations in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont since the pro- gram launched in 2018.
