tance as the economy goes through
its pandemic upheaval this year. Maine's
unemployment rate spiked in the early
summer, but has since tapered off to
levels more in line with the recession
of 2008–09. In 15 years, Maine's rate
of unemployment compared favorably
to the U.S. rate, with just one excep-
tion, 2006.
