Spectrum has already worked with the state correctional system since 1993, providing substance abuse disorder and recidivism reduction programming in a four-year contract with the Massachusetts Department of Correction. Jennifer Gaffney, the state's deputy commissioner of reentry and clinical services, said in a statement Spectrum's extensive knowledge of providing medications for opioid use disorders would ensure a smooth implementation of the program statewide. e nonprofit health treatment provider has already started programming at MCI Framingham, South Middlesex Correctional Institution in Framingham, MCI Shirley and MCI Cedar Junction in Norfolk. Additional programs will be phased in statewide over the next year. Spectrum has signed contracts to provide similar substance abuse services through the Essex County Sheriff 's Department and Suffolk County Sheriff 's Department. Spectrum provides medication-assisted treatment for the Norfolk County Sheriff 's Department. Fuel America planning second Worcester site Fuel America, whose cafe on Front Street in downtown Worcester has been a high-profile retail presence since opening nearly two years ago, is ready to expand its operations even amid a challenging period for food and retail. Fuel has begun teaming up with franchisees, and among its first such locations will be in the Northworks mill building at 100 Grove St., a location slated to open next spring. Another is planned with a franchisee in Weymouth, just south of Boston. Fuel opened just aer New Year's Day in 2019, moving into a corner location at Front and Commercial streets at the base of Mercantile Center. Sources: Worcester Registry of Deeds, Greater Boston Commercial Properties of Northborough Two Worcester diversity groups share $66K in pandemic aid Two Worcester organizations have received a total of $66,400 in state funding to help reduce the spread of coronavirus in communities of color in the cities hardest hit by the pandemic. Worcester Interfaith at 111 Park Ave. received $45,000 and the African Community Education program at 484 Main St. got $21,400 as two of 20 such community groups statewide announced for funding by the Gov. Charlie Baker Administration In all, the state gave $650,000, including to groups in Chelsea, Lawrence, Revere, Springfield and other cities with particularly high case numbers. Each organization received between $10,000 and $50,000. Fuel America is run by managing partners Jeff Bonasia, Rick Vallarelli and Carlos Magalhaes.
