Worcester Business Journal
WBJ
T
his is the last regular print
edition of Worcester Business
Journal of 2020. Our second
issue in December will be
the special edition Economic
Forecast, before we all move onto 2021
and hopefully put this accursed year
behind us.
While 2020 redefined American
business and life largely in many negative
ways, it certainly wasn't all bad. Far from
it, in fact. Before we turn the page on this
year, I would like to give special thanks
to three organizations who contributed
positively to WBJ's editorial operations in
2020: Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boyl-
ston, the Worcester Club, and Worcester
Polytechnic Institute.
ese three organizations hosted the
bulk of WBJ's photo shoots for our main
individual awards this year: Outstanding
Women in Business, 40 Under Forty, and
the Business Leaders of the Year/WBJ
Hall of Fame. All three of these let WBJ's
photographer and award honorees do
whatever they wanted (within reason),
were overly accommodating to schedul-
ing demands, provided safe and socially
distanced environments, let us use their
facilities for free, and only asked a small
favor in return: WBJ give them a credit in
our award editions.
e biggest thank you goes to the
organization where I (accidentally) didn't
hold up my end of the bargain: Tower
Hill. WBJ has held 40 Under Forty and
Outstanding Women in Business photo
shoots at the botanic garden annually
for three years. It is a gorgeous facility
offering many, many options for great
photos. It would be wrong to call Tower
Hill the hidden gem of Central Massachu-
setts (because it is so well known), but at
the very least it is underappreciated for its
magnificence. Of course, as I was putting
the finishing touches on the Oct. 26
edition with all the Outstanding Women
in Business photos, I was distracted by
the issue's many moving parts and forgot
to give Tower Hill its credit line on the
photos. So to make up for it now: Special
thanks to Tower Hill and its extremely
kind staff.
e lingering effects of 2020 will carry
with all of us for many years to come. As
we look to shed the many bad aspects
I N T H I S I S S U E
of this year, let us remember the many
positives, too. ey may be harder to spot
now, but as the bad moves further into the
rearview, hopefully the good will shine
through.
