As part of the award, Rasher received $100,000 to pursue his research. Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington earned the "Go Clear Award" from the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses for eliminating hazardous smoke caused by the use of lasers and electrosurgery devices dur- ing its surgical procedures. Norway Savings Bank was recognized as a "Best Wellness Employer" by Wellness Workdays, in collaboration with Harvard Medical School, for the second straight year. Machias Savings Bank was named one of the "Best Banks to Work for" by American Banker, ranking No. 4 out of 85 banks that were recognized, for the sixth year in a row. Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, said it was named a "Tier 1 Metropolitan Best Law Firms" for family law and for medical malprac- tice law – plaintiffs by U.S. News – Best Lawyers in 2021. Verrill, a law firm in Portland, said 14 of it's Maine-based attorneys were recognized as "Super Lawyers" and another eight as "Rising Stars" in the 2020 edition of New England Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. e firm was also named as a "Ceiling Smasher" as one of the top law firms in the country for female attorneys in Law360's annual Glass Ceiling report. e firm has the third highest percentage of women in its equity partnership in the country, as compared to firms of a similar size, and was ranked ninth overall in its size cat- egory for the percentage of both female equity partners (39.6%) and female attorneys across levels (41.2%).
