Matos previously worked as principal of the Matos Group LLC, a regional real estate development company based in Hartford. AdvanceCT, formerly the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, hired Carolyn Trabuco and Sho Islam as senior members of its business recruitment team. Trabuco, who has worked with Connecticut investment firms Phibro Trading and Pequot Capital Management, will serve as AdvanceCT's senior director of business development. Islam, who served as business development officer at Choose New Jersey Inc., will now work as a director of business development at AdvanceCT. Kelly McKinnon has been promoted to chief financial officer at Mohegan Sun. McKinnon joined Mohegan Sun in 2006 as a budget analyst and most recently worked as director of analytics for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, Mohegan's corporate division. Roger Barshan was hired as vice president of environmental construction at Hartford-based Associated Construction Company. Barshan has 30 years of construction and project management experience. Leonard Jahad and Garth Harries were appointed to the board of directors at New Haven-based nonprofit Connecticut Voices for Children. Jahad is the executive director of the Connecticut Violence Intervention Program. Harries is managing partner of the International Center for Leadership in Education. Chelsea Groton Bank announced promotions of five members of its executive leadership team. Tony Joyce, formerly an executive vice president, is now chief operations officer; Jennifer Pensa, formerly an executive vice president, is now chief innovation officer; Lori Dufficy, formerly an executive vice president, is now chief experience and engagement officer; Anne Wilkinson, formerly an executive vice president, is now chief human resources officer; and Alex Masse, formerly director of operations and business intelligence, is now a senior vice president. The pandemic has dis- rupted many traditional fundraising strategies and development staff are under more pressure than ever to find alternate funding streams. Nonprofit fundraisers tend to burn out quickly in the best of times, Shul- man said. Agencies can hold onto the talent they have and find new sources of funding by expanding the respon- sibility for fundraising to include the executive director, staff and board members, she advised.
