PANELIST: KENNETH MANDILE President, Swissturn/USA Ken Mandile has been working in the screw machine industry since he was 10 years old (50 years ago!), but every day he still sees new challenges in need of innovative solutions. Ken takes great satisfaction in knowing that he can trust the Swissturn/USA team to do something each day that makes them better than the day before. Originally from Waltham, Mass, Ken graduated from WPI in 1980 (BSME) and lives in Webster, Mass. (and part-time in Denver, CO) with his wife Diane. In his spare time Ken enjoys watercolor painting, genealogy, studying history, and learn- ing to speak Italian. PANELIST: CHRIS YARD Team Member & Co-owner, Mercury Wire What I believe: It's a journey… I believe that tomorrow's achievements emerge from our ability to continuously learn, make decisions and take action. I believe this to be true whether those achievements are personal, or they span organizations, communities or all of humanity. As leaders and business owners, I believe it is our responsibility to create an environment where curiosity and learning can flourish. I believe in a place where the improvement journey moves continuously forward ... fueled by the ideas and efforts of people who are truly empowered to drive the cycle of learning, decision-making, and action. I believe the effective leader must nurture this environment by learning when to serve, when to challenge, when to guide, and when to get out of the way. Some of the stops along my journey: Mercury Wire – Saving Humanity from Business as Usual Advanced Micro Devices – Exploring ways for analog voice to live in a digital world Lucent Wireless – Helping create first generation digital cellular systems Bell Laboratories – Listening for things that don't want to be heard Cornell & Stanford – Learning how to learn PANELIST: PETER A.
