2020 Massachusetts Manufacturing Awards 7
B
oyd Technologies was originally
known as Boyd Converting
Company, and Bronly Boyd
started out with the goal of providing
services to customers developing
technical products with a high degree
of complexity across a wide variety
of product applications. Shortly
after its founding, Boyd opened
their first manufacturing location
in Richmond, Mass, in January
of 1980. Early contracts with Mr.
Coffee and McDonalds allowed
them to quickly expand operations.
Success continued by constructing
an additional 12,000 square foot
facility in Lee. Additionally, Boyd
Technologies entered into contracts
with Nippon Kidoshi Corporation,
Johnson & Johnson, The Clorox
Company, Oral-B, and many
others. Since 2013, the company
has transitioned to specializing in
medical devices and life sciences.
Today, Boyd Technologies boasts
expertise in advanced flexible
materials that stand at the core
of its operations. Their service
platform includes material sourcing,
product development, and advanced
manufacturing; and they offer
technology solutions for material
sourcing, project management,
and FDA research. Recently, they
have responded to the coronavirus
pandemic by expanding cleanroom
manufacturing and collaborating with
local healthcare providers, state and
local authorities, and commercial
partners to supply surgical masks,
N95 respirators, nasal swabs, and
point of care diagnostics.
Boyd Technologies maintains the
goal of helping their clients grow
faster with less risk and solving
complex problems by applying their
materials expertise to the feature
and functionality requirements of
single-use devices. In the future,
they will continue to strive to invest
in their people, capabilities, and
technology solutions in order to
support their clients and ultimately
improve lives.
