54 2020 Massachusetts Manufacturing Awards
W
eb Industries provides
precision converting and
outsource manufacturing
services for the Medical, Aerospace,
Industrial, and Personal & Home
Care markets. Although the
company has facilities across
the U.S. and Europe, Web has
maintained a Massachusetts-based
manufacturing presence since their
founding in 1969, moving from
Framingham into a new 76,000 sq. ft.
Holliston facility in 2001.
Leveraging decades of
experience producing medical
testing consumables, the
company established a Lateral
Flow Immunoassay (LFI) Center
of Excellence within the Holliston
plant in 2016. Combining the latest
automated technologies with in-
house chemistry prep and rigorous
quality systems, this center provides
LFI device manufacturing services
designed for high-volume production
of high-value diagnostic tests.
As the full extent of the coronavirus
pandemic became apparent earlier
this year, Web made substantial
investments in equipment,
facility footprint, and staffing to
increase capacity and support the
country's need for domestic test
manufacturing. In January, the
facility had 45 employees; by the end
of this year, that number will have
grown sixfold to over 300.
Web has partnered with major
medical companies to streamline
project transfer processes and
accelerate the production and
deployment of COVID-19 rapid
diagnostic tests critical to reopening
America. With local and state
officials' support, the company
continues to bring additional
manufacturing capacity online as the
pandemic stretches into 2021.
As a 100% employee-owned
company, all of Web's employee-
owners are honored that the company
has been nominated by Rep. Carolyn
Dykema as the 8th Middlesex District
Manufacturer of
the year.
