The Bedford site, formed in
2003, has gone through several
acquisitions since starting
as PerSeptive Biosystems,
then evolving to Perkin Elmer,
Celera, Applied Biosystems, Life
Technologies and finally Thermo
Fisher Scientific. Bedford has
a core competency in polymer
manufacturing and multi-scale
chemistry and the primary product
lines are POROS resins for the
BioProduction Division (BPD),
POP polymers for the Genetic
Sciences Division (GSD) and Tropix
chemistries for the Biosciences
Division (BID). The site has
expanded several times through the
years to include expansion of the
POROS suite in 2008 and 2014, build
out of a clean room suite, build out of
the pilot plant, and expansion of the
Quality Control suite.
