24 2020 Massachusetts Manufacturing Awards
W
hen J&R Plastics opened
its doors, they had one
mission: to integrate
the latest in computer-aided
manufacturing, and thermoforming
tooling technology with a friendly
responsive team of dedicated
professionals. But for owners Joe
and Randy Amarello, their vision
began with seeing a need in the
1990 Beanie Babies craze. The
engineers were working for another
manufacturer and approached their
boss about designing and building
plastic protective sleeves for the tags
on these wildly collectible toys. The
brothers produced them at work and
sold them out of their homes. Sales
skyrocketed and when their employer
sold their business, they launched
J&R Plastics in Acushnet, MA.
The company has since expanded
and has combined CAD design and
thermoforming tooling technology
to provide tooling and packaging
solutions in the marketplace. The
company constantly updates its
computer software, applies stringent
inspection procedures, impeccable
surface finishes, and dependable
delivery dates that keep them ahead
of the competition.
While J&R Plastics has built a
successful local business with high
technology and superior engineering
skills, it is the hands-on leadership
of the owners that make this
manufacturing facility strong. They
value both their employees and their
customers. Celebrating 20 years in
business, Acushnet is proud to have
J&R Plastics continue to thrive in our
community.
