12 2020 Massachusetts Manufacturing Awards N estled against the green hills of Mt. Sugarloaf, the Covestro facility in South Deerfield was originally established in 1978. The specialty films produced at Covestro are used in everyday products across diverse industries, including automotive, electronics, appliances, packaging and print, security and identification, sports and leisure — and incredibly important these days — health care. Covestro has remained open as an essential business throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and has developed and produced many products to support the fight against the virus, including face shield material and film that goes into making protective gowns for our health care workers. Covestro and its 186 employees are passionate about giving back to their community. Covestro provides its employees with 16 hours of paid time for community service and is active with the United Way of Hampshire County. Covestro also partners with UMass Amherst, MassHire Franklin Hampshire Workforce Board, and Greenfield Community College to recruit workers.
