B E S T P L A C E S TO W O R K 2 0 2 0 11 SMALL EMPLOYER (15 - 49 U.S. EMPLOYEES) Planson International PTO to volunteer, fitness program with monthly $100 prizes T he work at Planson International— a specialized global IT solutions provider to international organiza- tions focused on development, sustain- ability, and emergency response—can be complex and time-consuming. But employees consistently say the rewards go beyond their paychecks, because their work often directly aids humanitarian efforts. As a result, Planson is committed to continually improving all aspects of the company to create the best workplace possible. Last year, Plan- son allowed em- ployees to help redesign its PTO and holiday offer- ings, promoted paid time off to volun- teer, purchased sit/ stand workstations for all, and allowed employees to work remotely from other countries to be with family. This year, it created a fit- ness program that provides three $100 prizes each month. On top of that, there are many ad- ditional perks! Generous bonuses, tele- working/flex schedules, a Thanksgiving meal hosted by Planson's CEO at her home for all employees during work time, holiday bonus, and various fun get-togethers like employee happy hours, laser-tag, bowling, golf-tournaments, trivia contests, canoe racing, and raffles for prizes that range from Sea Dogs game tickets to trips to Italy! Planson created a fitness challenge program to encourage employees to be active and healthy. Every participant is entered into a drawing to win $100 with three winners chosen every month! All employees are recognized for their contributions. Occasionally, partners or vendors provide the company with perks such as ski tickets and trips. Prizes are awarded by a drawing so that all employees have a chance of winning. The nature of the company's work al- lows many employees to travel to various places throughout the world as part of the job. That includes locations in the U.S. as well as Denmark, Rome, Swit- zerland and various countries in Africa. P l a n s o n h a s improved on what was an already amazing health plan, providing a generous HRA contribution of $2,200 every year to all employees en- rolled in the plan. The result is the employee only has a $800 deductible. Once the deductible is reached, Planson also then pays the first $200 worth of coinsurance. Planson also pays 80% of the cost of the premiums, resulting in employee payments of as little as $39 every two weeks. Planson also expanded its offerings this year to include two plans, which reduces family premiums by $2,919 per year! New this year, Planson created a formal Leadership Development plan to specifically create individual develop- ment plans for every employee. Planson International's Holiday Party.
