America's First CEO Nick Moalli told HBJ earlier this year that he intends to roughly double the size of his institution by 2025, mainly through absorbing small credit unions. So far this year, America's First has acquired North Haven-based Connecticut Federal Credit Union and Hartford-based CT Transit Federal Credit Union. Middletown orthopedic doctors combine with Greenwich group A Middletown-based orthopedic physician group has joined forces with a private-equity backed practice that specializes in joint, spine and brain surgery. Financial terms of the "strategic partnership" announced by Greenwich-based Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) and the 30-year-old Orthopedic Associates of Middletown were not disclosed and it was unclear whether the arrangement is an acquisition. ONS only said it would provide capital resources to Orthopedic Associates of Middletown, and that the deal would help each party expand its reach. Shelbourne Global Solutions LLC, Hartford's largest commercial landlord, has named Erik Johnson, the city's former director of development services, as its senior vice president of development. Johnson, hired by the city in Sept. 2018, stepped down from the post earlier this summer. Prior to landing in Hartford, Johnson previously served as the city of New Haven's housing administrator, and as executive director of the Livable Cities Initiative in New Haven, among other roles in California, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Michael Tamasco has joined Nassau Asset Management — Hartford-based Nassau Financial Group's asset management business — to oversee global business development, enhance client engagement and champion expansion of the firm's third- party asset management platform. Tamasco previously served as managing director at fixed-income investment firm Seix Advisors. David Mitchell has joined Middletown-based Liberty Bank as chief digital officer and digital bank manager. Mitchell previously served as president of NYMBUS, a provider of cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) solutions to fintech markets. Rauchell Beckford-Anderson was elected to the board of directors of Operation Fuel, a Hartford low- income fuel assistance nonprofit. Beckford-Anderson is an associate attorney at Hartford-based employment law firm Rose Kallor LLP. Kevin Lowry was appointed assistant general manager of Mohegan Sun Connecticut, and will be responsible for finance, gambling, cashiering, tenant and retail operations at the casino. Lowry previously worked as vice president and CFO for Mohegan Sun and Mohegan Sun Pocono. Michael McHale was hired as chief business officer for SOHO Health, a physician-hospital organization formerly known as St. Francis Healthcare Partners. In his role, McHale will lead the organization's administrative services including marketing and human resources. Michelle Cabral was hired as vice president for human resources at Trinity College in Hartford. Cabral has more than 20 years of broad experience in human resources leadership at a variety of global organizations and industries. Frederick Hedberg was named partner at the construction law group at Hartford law firm Robinson+Cole. Hedberg has more than 20 years of experience handling complex construction and commercial matters for his clients Travis Lane has joined the wealth management team at Massachusetts- based Berkshire Bank, and will provide investment management services to clients out of the Glastonbury office. Lane previously worked as a financial advisor at a Greater Hartford registered investment advisor firm. Vincent Wong has joined Berlin medical implant manufacturer TOMZ Corp. as vice president of quality, responsible for quality engineering, systems and control. Wong holds a master's in biomedical engineering from the University of Connecticut. Michael Bradford is now vice provost for faculty, staff and student development at the University of Connecticut, where he will oversee faculty recruitment, professional/ academic development and equity initiatives. Bradford previously served as department head of Dramatic Arts and artistic director of the Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Ron Alexander has been appointed president and head of innovation at Covr Financial Technologies, a Hartford-based digital life insurance software developer, where he will lead product development, technology development and other efforts. Alexander has 20 years of e-commerce, life insurance and insurtech experience.
