How does UnitedHealthcare define value-based care, and what is UnitedHealthcare trying to deliver and solve for its consumers, employers and providers? FARRELL: Value-based care is about paying for and creating incentives for quality health care outcomes instead of paying for units of service. It can come in different forms, whether it is an incentive- based plan with primary care physicians, a set of payments for bundled and episodic services, or an accountable care organization (ACO). If you deliver value- based care well and make patients the focal point, you hit the triple aim – driving higher quality, lower costs and a better health care experience. In order to achieve this, we need to understand the interaction of the provider community with patients and other constituents. Our NexusACO high-performing network strategy addresses the confluence of interests of all the parties involved, including the patient, the provider, the employer and the health plan. Here in Massachusetts, we're proud to partner with Reliant Medical to bring the value of the NexusACO network to consumers and companies doing business here. MODERATOR: Why have you selected Reliant to be your NexusACO partner? FARRELL: We chose Reliant Medical Group because of its proven ability to deliver both high-quality and cost-effective care. Reliant was named the lowest -cost provider in aggregate in the state, according to a 2018 Massachusetts Health Policy Commission report. And the organization consistently meets or exceeds quality standards according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance HEDIS measures, and also earns high patient experience scores.
